It is a myth that if you touch a baby bird, its parents will reject it.

Birds have a limited sense of smell and will continue to feed a baby bird placed back in its nest by a human. If you cannot reach the nest, place the baby bird in a woven basket and hang it securely on a nearby branch. Be sure to prop the bird up with leaves or grass so the parents can reach it. Parents will continue to feed their baby if given the chance.

about fledglings

A fledgling is a young bird that is old enough to be out of the nest and is learning to fly. Fledglings are fully feathered and will be on the ground until they can fly. Parent birds continue to care for their fledglings. If you watch for a while, you should see parents feeding the young bird. If fledglings are in your yard, keep dogs and cats inside to keep the young birds safe.
